How did you prepare for the board exams?
I never had a “fixed plan” but always had an Idea of what had to be done on a particular day. It is very important to have a goal for every day, without which you will often find yourself lost. It is okay even if the goal is not met at least you would have achieved some percentage of it. Say you could get 50% of the work done or even 30% that still a mammoth of a lot better than ZERO.
What was your day like during the study holidays?
I had a to-do list to follow and tried my best to follow it. Most of the time nothing went as expected, but by the end of the Day, I would have done at least a small portion of my work. I also made sure I had good sleep (not excessive).
What was your coping mechanism during the exams?
It is important to be interested in what you are learning about, it is very hard for me to learn about something that’s not interesting. The internet really helps in this part, to find things that are not there in books. Humans have limited energy and focus and it can easily get exhausted.
what was your stress-buster?
I always found going out for a walk outdoors and having a quick nap really helps in replenishing my energy.
In the age of digital distractions did you have to stay away from gadgets for the month
No, I always had my phone with me as I discover a lot of new and interesting ideas every day. Yes, sometimes it is distracting and I was lost in mindless scrolling of social media apps, but one can with a little effort train themselves to not get lost in these apps. One could start by turning off all notifications throughout the day by selecting the ‘do not disturb’ option on Android(and its counterpart on ios). Tracking the usage of phone and deleting certain apps can help a lot too.
How did CMRNPS help in your preparation for the Boards?
The teachers were very supportive and were there to help in every situation. Solving previous years questions papers helped to learn about the patterns of questions and the answer that was expected for any particular question.
The success mantra that you want to share with other students?
Consistency is the key. Learning Physics/Math/Chemistry is no different than learning a new language, there is no way you can completely understand ‘la physique est incroyable’ on the very first day of your French class. You have to obviously start with the characters, the syllables so on and move up the ladder. Just like learning a new language there may be so much to learn. Does a baby cry when it starts learning a language? No it just learns a thing or two a day and before it realizes it would have already learned quite a lot.
